Nanaimo Bars (No Bake)
What are Nanaimo Bars, you may be wondering? Essentially a stacked bar cookie, they are a well-known Canadian treat that, in my opinion, has a flavor that is reminiscent of thick, rich, chocolatey fudge. In honor of Nanaimo, British Columbia, on the west coast, they have this name.
They are made of three layers: a foundation of chocolate and cracker crumbs, a frosting with a custard taste, and a chocolate covering.
Although the directions for these delightful snacks look to be complex and tiresome, they are surprisingly simple to produce. And besides, they are a no-bake bar.
You'll wonder where these delights have been all your life after just one bite!

Ingredients
Steps
1. Let's begin by preparing the biscuit foundation. Melt the butter with the sugar and cocoa powder in a dish over a pan of boiling water, stirring regularly, until smooth.
2. Whisk in the egg for 2–3 minutes, or until the mixture thickens.
3. Remove from heat, combine with the biscuit crumbs, coconut, and, if desired, almonds, and then press into the bottom of a lined 20 cm square pan. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
4. Make the custard icing for the center layer by whisking together the butter, cream, and custard powder until light and frothy, then gradually add the icing sugar until thoroughly combined.
5. Chill in the fridge for at least 10 minutes, or until the custard is no longer soft.
6. Put the cold bars back in the refrigerator after spreading the melted chocolate and butter over them in the microwave.
7. Wait till the chocolate has firmly healed (about 2 hours). Remove the mixture from the tin and cut it into squares to start serving. Enjoy!
